VTV.vn - A total of 10 collectives and 10 individuals were presented with the National Volunteer Awards 2020 in recognition of their outstanding contribution to volunteer work at a ceremony in Hanoi on December 5.

The awards were given as part of the National Volunteer Festival, co-organised by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee and the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee in response to the International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development.

Speaking at the event, First Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan stressed that volunteer activities have been held effectively consistently in 2020, helping address many challenges facing the country, particularly in preventing COVID-19 and mitigating the consequences of storms and floods in central and Central Highlands regions.

He expressed his hope that all volunteer communities will unite together to realise bigger, more long-term targets, and called on organisations, individuals and donors to continue to provide further support to volunteer activities.

On the morning the same day, a delegation of young outstanding volunteers paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.
