Deputy Head of the Vietnam Sports Administration Tran Duc Phan, head of the delegation, said the delegation comprises of 523 members, including 12 doctors, 24 experts, 81 coaches, six interpreters and 352 athletes.
They will compete in track and field, shooting, weightlifting, karate, taekwondo, pencak silat, wushu, bicycling, fencing, archery, and men and women’s football events.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Ngoc Thien, expressed his wish that the athletes would do their utmost to bring glory to the nation.
The ASIAD 2018 will be held in the two major Indonesian cities - Jakarta and Palembang - from August 18 to September 2.
At the previous ASIAD in 2014, Vietnam won one gold, 10 silver and 25 bronze medals, ranking 21st in the overall medal tally.
Vietnam targets at least three gold medals at this year’s event.
