Although the home team was marginally better in terms of form coming into the match, the Sichuan club brought good “weapons”, displaying very strong attacks in the semi-final in the central province of Ha Tinh yesterday.
After Linh Chi played impressively to earn Vietnam the first set win at 25-18, Sichuan responded in set 2 and continuously forced the Vietnamese players to make mistakes. The Chinese team won the next two sets with scores of 27-25 and 25-23, respectively.
The fourth set was intense as the Vietnamese team created the first advantage points but their Chinese rivals strengthened their efforts to narrow the gap. It was only when Sichuan made a mistake that the home team narrowly won set 4 with a score of 25-23.
In the final set, duo Linh Chi and Thanh Thuy exploded with consecutive coordination to lead Vietnam to the final win at a score of 15-11.
Winning the game sends Vietnam to the final on August 11, where they will face the Democratic People's Republic of Korea as the former defeated the Altay club from Kazakhstan 3-1 in another semifinal on Thursday.
