The Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang on March 14 said that the sample sent by the Center for Disease Control in the central province of Thua Thien Hue was tested positive for SARS-COV-2, thereby increasing the total number of COVID-19 cases in Vietnam to 49, according to the Ministry of Health.
The latest male patient is a 71-year-old UK passenger who boarded VN0054 flight from London to Hanoi-based Noi Bai International Airport on the morning of March 2
He is the husband and had close contact with the 30th COVID-19 patient in Vietnam.
The patient has been going into isolation since March 8 to undergo treatment at the Central General Hospital in Hue.
Vietnam has confirmed the discovery of 49 cases positive for the novel coronavirus so far, of which 16 cases have been cured successfully and released from hospital.
