Many congressmen wrote letters asking to consult with the Queen to change plans. Meanwhile, an online petition demanding that Prime Minister Boris Johnson cancel his plans to suspend the UK Parliament has reached more than 1.4 million signatures.
According to the protesters, this is a highly controversial move which would restrict parliamentary time for opposition Members of Parliament to try to block the U.K. leaving the European Union without a deal on October 31.
