Boris Johnson becomes next UK Prime Minister

In a brief speech yesterday, he radiated optimism and pledged to deliver Brexit and unite the country. Johnson resoundingly defeated rival Jeremy Hunt, winning two thirds of the votes in a ballot of about 160,000 Conservative members.

Prime Minister Theresa May congratulated Johnson, saying he had her full support.

The 55-year-old former foreign minister is one of Britain's most famous politicians. He vowed to get Brexit done on October 31 after being declared the winner of the Conservative party leadership race.
