The other book that won first prizes was a research book on the scientific basis for determining the outer boundary of Vietnam’s mainland according to the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea by a group of authors, including Bui Cong Que, Phung Van Phach, Do Huy Cuong, Tran Tuan Dung, and Le Duc Anh.
Ten B, 11 C, and 18 consolation prizes were also presented to other outstanding books at an awards ceremony held in Hanoi on December 29.
The winning books were sorted out from 435 entries in five fields of politics – economics; science and technology; social sciences and humanities; culture, literature and art; and children’s books.
The annual National Book Awards are hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communications and organised by the Vietnam Publishers’ Association and the National Book Prize Council.
The awards aim to honour writers, translators, scientists, and publishers nationwide to discover, preserve and promote books that are valuable to readers.
