Blood donation activities resume in the Mekong Delta

After the Lunar New Year, the amount of blood reserved for hospitals in the Mekong Delta began to run out. In addition, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has made people feel reluctant to donate blood, leaving the blood reserve nearly depleted in early April. However, currently this issue is being solved due to people in the region resuming their blood donation activities.

The National Hospital of Haematology - Blood Transfusion in Can Tho city receives an average of more than 1,000 blood units per day. Accordingly, these new current blood reserves have been used in April for hospitals in 11 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.

Recently, blood donation groups and clubs in the city of Can Tho have also established a blood bank to supply blood whenever hospitals need it. In particular, this blood bank also has many members with rare blood. Only about 0.07% of the country's population have this blood group.
