This is the second high-capacity fishing boat built by fisherman Phung Ngoc Thanh. At Tam Quan Bac Commune in Hoai Nhon District, many fishermen now do not face difficulties in building or assembling their own high-capacity fishing boats. Thanks to effective policies by the provincial authority, these fishermen have upgraded their fishing boat, and improved the efficiency of their fishing.
"In the past, when we saw strong 6 level winds, we had to find shelter right away. But now, thanks to the improvement of offshore fishing boats, we are able to go fishing despite 7-8 level winds." - Phung Ngoc Thanh, Fisherman, Tam Quan Bac Commune, Hoai Nhon District, Binh Dinh Province.
Currently, many fishermen are able to own 7 to 8 fishing boats with capacity over 600 continental horsepower (CV).
To date, of the more than 2,400 fishing boats operating in Hoai Nhon District, up to 73% of them are offshore fishing boats. This is a positive sign showing the modern focus on high-tech applications in fishing production.
It is expected to support fishermen and develop production in the area.
"Previously, a fishing crew of 3-4 fishermen owned 1 fishing boat. After 1-2 years, when they separated from their crew, each of them had their own fishing boat. Accordingly, it has led to the development of a number of offshore fishing fleets in the area." - Truong Quang Minh, Vice President, Tam Quan Bac District People’s Committee, Binh Dinh Province.
"Currently, thanks to decision 48 assisting fishermen in supplying fishing boat fuel, many fishermen are able to produce and assemble their own fishing boats." - Pham Van Chung, Deputy Director, Department of Economy, Hoai Nhon District, Binh Dinh Province.
Thanks to practical policies by the government, many fishermen in Binh Dinh Province are able to build modern boats which ensure safety for fishermen at sea and help increase the productivity and quality of fishing activities. Therefore, it helps to increase their yield of fish, enhance economic efficiency, and create confidence for fishermen when going offshore.
