American ballet group to teach and perform in Vietnam

VTV.vn - US Embassy invited the ballet group “Battery Dance” to Vietnam after 10 years since the last performance.

“Battery Dance” is a 40-year modern ballet group from New York, USA. They set their foot in over 65 countries in the world, producing nearly 100 dancing performances. The group performed in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city in 2005.

Speaking at the press conference held by U.S. Embassy on October 13rd, Battery Dance said they had spent over 10 days in Hue before arriving in Hanoi. During that time, group artists performed and met the youths. They also taught dancing for 80 youngsters in Thua Thien Hue Art & Culture Vocational School on October 12th.

Battery Dance’s tour named “Dance to Connect” took place in Hanoi University of Culture, Hanoi Academy of Theater and Cinema with the presence of all teachers and students. The group also has performance in Hanoi Opera House and Vietnam Dance College on 19th and 20th October respectively.

The tour of Battery Dance in Vietnam is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, which is on the occasion of 20 years anniversary of U.S. – Vietnam relation normalization. Besides, well-known saxophone artist Kenny G also presents at the press conference about the tour in Vietnam for the very first time.

U.S. Ambassador in Vietnam – Ted Osius – thanked for the artists’ presence. He also emphasized that American artists’ performances in Vietnam had a huge impact, which helped to deepen U.S. – Vietnam relations.
