VTV.vn -Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich kept their hopes of a treble alive after a dominant 4-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen to lift the German Cup for a record-extending 20th time at the Olympiastadion on Saturday (Jul 4).

Bayern have now won 17 games in a row in all competitions and are also unbeaten in their last 26 games stretching back to December. They lead Chelsea 3-0 on aggregate in the Champions League last-16, with the second leg to be played next month.

* First-half goals from Olivier Giroud and Willian and a late strike from Ross Barkley earned Chelsea a 3-0 Premier League victory over struggling Watford on Saturday and a boost to their ambitions for Champions League football next season. It was a vital win for Chelsea, who lost to lowly West Ham United in midweek, as it returned them to fourth place after Manchester United had stolen the coveted spot for a few hours by beating Bournemouth 5-2. Watford remained fourth from bottom, a point above the relegation zone.

* Arsenal dented Wolverhampton Wanderers' hopes of a top-four finish as Bukayo Saka's first Premier League goal helped them to an impressive 2-0 away victory on Saturday. Arsenal's third successive league win moved them to within three points of sixth-placed Wolves whose eight-match unbeaten league run came to an end in disappointing fashion.

* Japan's Hideki Matsuyama fired his lowest round since late February to grab the early, third-round clubhouse lead at the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Saturday, while overnight co-leaders Webb Simpson and Chris Kirk teed off. Matsuyama, who missed the cut two weeks ago in his only other start since the PGA Tour returned from a three-month COVID-19 hiatus, shot a bogey-free, seven-under-par 65 to reach 12 under for the week at the Detroit Golf Club.

* South African Ryan Gibbons won the first stage of the virtual Tour de France on Saturday, edging out the likes of Mathieu van der Poel and Greg Van Avermaet in the sprint finish. The race, contested on the Zwift training platform, is filling the void left by the postponement of the actual Tour de France that will now start on Aug. 29.

* Celta Vigo were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Betis at the Balaidos Stadium in La Liga on Saturday after the visitors were denied a second half penalty by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). Meanwhile, Real Valladolid beat Deportivo Alaves 1-0 in a mid-table clash.

* Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon set a record for the number of Serie A appearances when he played his 648th game in the Italian top flight against Torino on Saturday. The 42-year-old, who made his Serie A debut for Parma as a 17-year-old in November 1995, overtook the record previously held by former AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini.

* Leaders Leeds United moved four points clear at the top of the table after cruising past Blackburn Rovers 3-1 in England's second-tier Championship at Ewood Park on Saturday. Earlier in the day, fifth-placed Nottingham Forest were held 1-1 by Derby County in the East Midlands derby.

* Manchester United's three-pronged attack combined to devastating effect as they crushed Bournemouth 5-2 in the Premier League on Saturday to move into the top four and stretch their unbeaten run to 16 games in all competitions.

* Jamie Vardy netted his 100th Premier League goal as Leicester City notched their first victory since the league resumed, beating Crystal Palace 3-0 on Saturday to keep up their drive for Champions League football next season.

* Frances Tiafoe has tested positive for COVID-19 and been forced to withdraw from the All-American Team Cup exhibition tournament in Atlanta, the American said on Saturday.

* Thai boxing matches resumed on Saturday after more than three months as the nation eases its coronavirus lockdown, but fans of the popular sport will have to make do with watching on television for now.

* Brighton & Hove Albion beat Norwich City 1-0 at Carrow Road on Saturday as Leandro Trossard's first-half goal lifted the south coast club nine points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.

* All Formula One drivers, teams and personnel have tested negative for COVID-19 ahead of the season-opening Austrian Grand Prix, the sport said on Saturday. Formula One said in a statement that 4,032 tests of drivers, teams and personnel were conducted between June 26 and July 2. It said aggregated information would be made public every seven days.
