Auto industry localisation

Speaking at a recent business forum in Hanoi, Industry and Trade Minister Tran Tuan Anh expounded upon the opportunities for growth within the context of the larger AEC marketplace. Vietnam's car manufacturing sector hosts some 400 manufacturers, principally small-sized businesses, employing roughly 100,000 workers.

The minister said he would like to see these figures substantially expanded. According to MOIT statistics, the country's total production capacity for passenger vehicles is currently about 460,000 units per year, which are produced equally by the foreign and domestic sectors.
