Starting from February 1, visitors from 40 countries from Asia, Europe and the Americas can apply for e-visas to enter the country at 28 border gates, including airports, seaports and road border gates.
After registering online, the applicants can print hard-copy visas themselves without having to wait on officials.
Foreigners who want to apply for e-visas to Vietnam may log onto Vietnam's Department of Immigration's official websites:https://www.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn or https://immigration.gov.vn or have an assigned authority in their home countries give them a registered account.
The required time for processing has been shortened to 3 days upon receiving the application. This is considered the first step to improving administrative procedures in the tourism industry.
In addition, the new regulations don't require tourists to present letters of guarantee from organisations or individuals in Vietnam.
In January along, Vietnam welcomed over 1 million international arrivals, up 23.6% compared to the same period last year. With the e-visa policy in place, the country is expected to welcome even more in the time to come./.
