ASEAN discusses new security challenges

The host Singapore proposed objectives for ASEAN's security and defense co-operation in 2018, including anti-terrorism; co-operation in response to chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear weapons; the Collision Avoidance Rules at sea and a similar guidance for military aircraft. In addition to emerging risks, delegates also agreed that ASEAN should continue to unite to resolve other security challenges such as sovereignty disputes and territorial and maritime security.
