That Lam was elected as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee with the absolute number of votes shows the logic in the decision of the committee to continue the work initiated by late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, he affirmed.
Fiorda asserted that the new Party leader, with his experience, especially his position as the Minister of Public Security, joined his predecessor in formulating policies and produced many important results in the corruption fight.
Furthermore, Party General Secretary Lam also has rich experience in State management and policy making, consolidating the task of inheriting and promoting the valuable legacies of Vietnam's development and progress left by the late leader, he said.
Fiorda held that Vietnam’s external relations will not see major changes in the future. Party General Secretary and State President To Lam's highlighting of five priorities in foreign policy demonstrates the continuity in Vietnam's foreign policy planning. This is a clear and decisive foreign policy with a focus on international integration and active contribution to the maintenance of peace and stability in the region and the world, he said.
Commenting on Lam’s article entitled "Resolving to build a strong Party, and a prosperous, powerful, democratic, fair and civilised Vietnam", Fiorda showed impression at the successes that Vietnamese people have achieved under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which are mentioned at the beginning of the article, as well as the new Party chief’s affirmation of inheriting and promoting the revolutionary achievements built by generations of Party leaders, including General Secretary Trong.
The Argentine journalist underlined that the article mapped out a roadmap with clear determination in national development in the coming time, which focuses on successfully fulfilling strategic goals set at the 13th National Party Congress.
