The recent torrential rain and floods have caused serious damage to a number of provinces in the central region and efforts will be made to deal with the aftermath.
The National Assembly Chairwoman visited Hương Khê and Vũ Quang districts which have suffered worst from the flooding in Ha Tinh. Four communes and 20 villages in Vũ Quang District remain isolated, while transport links remain severed.
Eight villages of Đức Hương commune, Vũ Quang District remained isolated by water. 300 houses have been submerged. Dozens of hectares of orchards are seriously damaged and a large number of cattle and poultry have died.
Property losses are estimated at more than 17 billion VND or over 760,000 US dollars.
“I’m here to tell that the government is always by your side. We’ll help you soon stabilise your lives and restore your livelihoods,” said Ngan.
Overall province wide, the floods have submerged 108 communes with more than 30,000 houses, killing 6 people. Nearly 775 hectares of crops have been destroyed. The losses are estimated to top 1,000 billion dong or more than 44.8 million US dollars.
