VTV.vn - An additional 645 cases of COVID-19 were detected in the six hours to 6pm July 8, raising the number of cases logged in the past 24 hours to 1,314, including 7 imported cases and 1,307 domestic infections, according to the Health Ministry.

Ho Chi Minh City accounted for the largest number of newly-detected cases over the past 24 hours with 915, followed by Binh Duong with 135, Dong Thap with 108, and Khanh Hoa 28. The capital city of Hanoi reported five cases.

It is noteworthy that 1,226 cases were detected in quarantine facilities or areas under lockdown

The national tally reached 24,385, of which 22,487 were local infections.

Also on July 8, 393 COVID-19 patients were given the all-clear, raising the total number of recoveries to 8,950. The death toll was 105.

Among active patients, 333 have tested negative for the coronavirus once, 203 twice and 80 thrice.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 vaccine fund had received VND8,076 billion (US$351 million) as of 5:30 pm July 8. The money was donated by 409,872 organisations and individuals.
