The sea trail was established to transport weapons, supplies and people from the north to the south of Vietnam during the anti-US war, contributing to the people’s efforts to defeat the US imperialists and liberate the south, reunifying the country.
Prominent among the activities include an online infographic design contest, a video clip making competition, and a multiple choice test, which provides knowledge and historical facts about the legendary sea trail and the “unnumbered ships” on the trail, as well as the remarkable historical events of the Vietnam People’s Navy.
The organising board has also launched a website at http://doantaukhongso.vn, recreating the actual itinerary of the secret unnumbered ships carrying ammunitions and supplies to the south by sea between 1961 and 1975.
In addition, commemorative activities will be held in 12 cities and provinces which hosted wharfs for the unnumbered ships, and gifts will be presented to war veterans who joined the sea trail.
Online seminars and workshops will also be held in October to discuss the history and glorious tradition of Vietnam People’s Army and Vietnam People’s Navy as well as achievements and feats of arms of the Vietnamese naval forces, particularly those of the veterans of the Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail.
