The visit came just over a month after the Vietnamese officers and soldiers arrived to undertake peacekeeping duties with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).
Kon Maneit Matiok stated that in just over a month, Vietnamese peacekeepers had not only repaired the roads serving the base but also repaired Banton Bridge — an essential transport route directly affecting security, the economy, and people’s livelihoods.
He noted that what residents feel most is not only the smoother roads but also the dedication of the Vietnamese soldiers.
The local authorities highly valued the fact that the members of Viet Nam’s Engineering Unit Rotation 4 have not only fulfilled their duties to UN standards but have also served as ambassadors of humanity in Abyei through their practical actions.
The unit has brought not only technical expertise but also clean water, food, and essential supplies, as well as books and school materials for disadvantaged children.
