As the traditional export market for Vietnamese lychees, China is expected to import a total of 40,000 tons this year. This represents 80% of the total estimate for exported lychees from Bac Giang Province. Vietnamese lychees are also expected to penetrate the Middle East, Canada and Thailand in 2017. The first batch of Luc Ngan lychees will make their way to Thailand in June, once tariffs have been removed. Experts have attributed this success to the increased proportion of VietGap-certified lychees, which constitutes 40% of the total produce.
