VTV.vn - The 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty fell apart on Friday last week after the United States and NATO accused Russia of violating the pact by deploying the 9M729 missile.

Meanwhile, according to Russia, the United States may have been trying to find an excuse for withdrawing from the treaty and starting negotiations on a new and more comprehensive agreement. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on Monday held a press conference in Moscow, saying that Russia will not give up its plan to deploy the 9M729 missile because it is not included in the INF Treaty.

However, he still reaffirmed Russia's willingness to continue dialogue on arms control with the US. In the meantime, there're no talks planned between Moscow and Washington to extend the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. If the new treaty is not renewed after 2021, there will be no arms control system between the two countries.
