This means that nearly 300 tax branches will cease their operations. Tax branches at the district, communal, town, and city level will be merged into regional tax departments under the provincial or city tax department of that region.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the rules for restructuring and merging the tax branches of provincial and municipal tax departments have been implemented to ensure the streamlining, efficiency, stability and fulfillment of the assigned political tasks.
In Hanoi for example, the Ministry of Finance has approved the merger plan for 12 district tax ranches into a regional tax branch from 2018 to 2020. Four district-level tax branches will be merged each year.
