41.5m USD needed to repair flood-stricken roads
VTV.vn - The General Directorate of Roads has announced that funding of nearly 41.5 million USD would be needed to repair part of national highways that had been heavily damaged by on-going heavy rains and floods in the northern region.

Around 35,000 square metres of road surface has been eroded and nearly 165,000 cubic metres of soil and rocks have slid from mountainsides. Initial clean-up costs are estimated to have reached 120 billion dong.

Meanwhile over the past 6 days, local residents in Viet Hai Commune, Cat Hai District in Hai Phong City have still been isolated by heavy rains. The area is still suffering from 1-2 metre high floods. Transport is still being conducted by boat, floating raft or in some cases swimming.
