In a solemn atmosphere, delegates, athletes and a large number of local people performed the flag-raising ceremony, expressing profound gratitude to great President Ho Chi Minh, heroic martyrs, and compatriots who sacrificed bravely for the peace, independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
The 2026 Cycling for Peace Festival is oriented as a large-scale sporting event, contributing to the promotion of historical relics and scenic landscapes. At the same time, it aims to promote the tourism potential and strengths of Quang Tri province, and foster cultural and sporting exchanges with localities both domestically and internationally.The 2026 Cycling for Peace Festival takes place over two days, April 18–19. On April 18, a parade is held to launch the cycling-for-peace movement; on April 19, the 2026 Quang Tri Provincial Cycling Race, themed "Joining Hands to Build Peace", will be held at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, featuring three competition categories for men across three age groups and one category for women.
Within the framework of the programme, nearly 1,000 athletes from all three regions of the country, along with athletes from Laos, Thailand and Cambodia, cycled across the Hien Luong Bridge relic site. Together with delegates, they released doves and balloons into the blue sky, expressing hopes for peace.On this occasion, delegates and athletes also visited to offer incense and flowers at Vinh Linh Martyrs’ Cemetery, and presented gifts to policy beneficiary families, people with meritorious services, and victims affected by Agent Orange.
