This morning (April 18th), a Book Fair opening ceremony celebrating 5th Vietnam National Book Day took place at the Reunification Park (Thống Nhất Park), Hanoi. This is an annual event held by the Ministry of Information and Communications to honor the value of books and to spread the reading culture all over Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications – Mr. Truong Minh Tuan affirms: “Books have always played a crucial role in the spiritual life of our society. Encouraging and spreading the reading culture can develop the intellectual background for each individual, each family and the whole society”.
As many as 50,0000 book titles from various genres and fields have been introduced to readers at the 5th Vietnam National Book Day 2018, such as politics, laws, economics, education, literature, etc. The event has drawn the participation of nearly 80 publishers and publishing companies, who are showcasing their books at more than 100 booths to meet the readers’ demands.
The event is highlighted by 100 well-organized and well-decorated book stalls, which offer attractive promotion and small gifts to the readers by giving away bookmarks, postcards and handbooks.
Nearly 20 events will be held, including the introduction of the book entitled "Industry 4.0 revolution, revolution of convergence and saving", and talks on "Culture, development and integration", among others. Other interesting activities will be organised including games, painting, puzzles and lucky draws.
The Book Fair has created a cultural atmosphere in the heart of Hanoi as an irresistible attraction for book lovers. Moreover, cultural and reading values has been spread out to generations with different age range.
