This award recognizes Ang Lee’s excellent contribution in directing. Ang Lee has won 2 Oscar for Brokeback Mountain (2005) and Life of Pi (2912) during his career.
“Ang Lee is truly one of the great visionary directors of our time, with a remarkable international career that continually demonstrates bold choices and provocative perspectives" said Kieran Breen, BAFTA Los Angeles Chairman.
"From Sense and Sensibility to Life of Pi, Mr. Lee has had a special place in BAFTA’s heart, and we are looking forward to honoring his remarkable career at this year’s British Academy Britannia Awards.”
Prior to Ang Lee, past recipients of John Schlesinger Britannia Award include Sam Mendes, Mike Newell, Danny Boyle, Christopher Nolan, David Yates, Quentin Tarantino and Kathryn Bigelow.
2016 Britannia Awards will take place in Beverly Hilton Hotel on October 28th 2016.
