14,000 scrap containers left at domestic seaports

86,000 scrap containers have been left for more than 90 days at seaports. All of the containers have been sent notices but no one has come to receive them.

Countries such as China, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines have issued a policy to ban and restrict the import of scrap containers. This has recently created a lot of pressure on the domestic customs system.

The Government Office has requested the relevant units and stakeholders to submit a plan soon to handle these containers.
