The meeting’s agenda focuses on working regulations of the party’s agencies and recommendations for high-ranking state personnel.
In his opening speech, the party chief said the working regulations of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat and the Commission for Inspection should be built on the foundations of existing rules and needed to be specific, cohesive and suitable with reality, ensuring democracy will be promoted further and discipline is well maintained. He also stressed the importance of recommendations for high-ranking state personnel.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said: This is very important. At this meeting, the Central Committee needs to nominate people for the posts based on the following method: To positions of state president, prime minister, chairperson of NA and other 34 leaders who were voted with at least 72% at the second meeting of the 12th Party Central Committee, the Party Central Committee will not nominate or vote on again. For the remaining 13 positions which haven’t been nominated at the previous meeting and those which are intended to change, the Politburo will consider before submitting to the NA and voting at the first plenary session of the 14th NA.
The party general secretary asked Central Committee members to directly give feedback to draft regulations concerning inspection, supervision and enforcement of the party statutes. The third plenum will run until July 8.
