Representatives of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, the Nam Dinh provincial fisheries sub-department and the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre for Zone 1 present flags to the fishermen.

Co-organised by Nguoi Lao Dong (Labour) Newspaper, the Nam Dinh provincial fisheries sub-department and the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre for Zone 1, the conference aimed to propagate and guide disaster prevention skills among fishermen in Nam Dinh Province.

Director of the provincial fisheries sub-department Hoang Manh Ha said that the province currently has 2,158 fishing boats with a total capacity of more than 319,000 CV, of which the number of offshore fishing vessels is 549 (accounting for 25.5% of total fishing boats in the province).

At the conference, Member of the Editorial Board and Head of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper Office in the Northern region Pham Hong Ky said that up to now, after more than three years of implementing the “One million national flags stay with fishermen” programme, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper has presented more than 1.2 million flags to people nationwide.

Nam Dinh is a northern coastal province with a coastline of more than 72km, which is considered among the localities with great strengths and potential to develop the marine economy, with more than 2,000 ships, boats and thousands of labourers in the marine industry, including inshore and offshore fishing.
