The Department of Criminal Investigation in Social Order (PC45) in Ho Chi Minh City said on April 15 it was trying to clarify the role of models and actresses in the high-end prostitution ring.
On the evening of April 4, police from PC45 raided hotels in Districts 1 and 3, as well as in the Binh Chanh District, and caught several couples engaged in sexual activity. Among sex workers arrested were several models and actresses.
Based on confessions by sex workers, police arrested Le Bao Loc, 42, of District 5 and charged him with "prostitution mediation".
Loc admitted he acted as mediator for many models and actresses to engage in prostitution, and that they were paid at least USD1,000 each. Loc took a 20 percent commission.
Police, acting on information provided by Loc, arrested more models for prostitution meditation. Two of them had been reported as missing by family members.
Investigations continue.
