VTV.vn - The 2015 Canadian food festival kicked off last night in Ho Chi Minh city and introduced characteristic cuisines of the North American country.

This is one of 6 major culinary events and cultural exchanges that will take place in Vietnam by the end of this year. The event introduces signature Canadian foods including beer, wine, maple syrup, and dried fruits to Vietnamese food lovers.

Festival goers will also encounter lobster, Pacific geoduck, salmon, mussels, and sea urchin. The freshness and quality of the various products are making a positive impression.

The festival is held annually with an aim to promote Canadian cultural identity and culinary art to the Vietnamese people. Dishes made from the Pacific geoduck [gooey-duck] are the highlights of this year's event. This is also the first time such dishes have been introduced in Vietnam by renowned Canadian chefs.

According to Nathan Fong, both Vietnamese and Canadian food lovers are enjoying the new culinary trend of an East-West fusion cooking style. The diversity of dishes and quality of foods are the top priority.

The Canadian Food Festival will last until December. This is also an opportunity for people from the two countries to gain insight into each other's culinary art. It also marks a new level in the countries’ cooperation, as Vietnam remains Canada's largest ASEAN trade partner.
