Unlike the first album released in 2007, The Shadow of Jazz features 2 successful and high-ranking singers in Vietnam: Ha Tran & Tung Duong. With the Jazz genre throughout the album, Tung Duong and Ha Tran can freely expose their powerful internal voice.
Among 10 songs in The Shadow of Jazz, two of them - called Thu Can and Co va Mua - have been familiar with the audience. Both songs initially came from Giang Son’s first album and were performed by Tung Duong, which gained many accolades for this 1983-born singer.
This time in The Shadow of Jazz, those 2 songs were sung by Ha Tran. Especially for Co Va Mua, Ha Tran had the song remixed as Acapella to put a new style apart from Tung Duong’s version. With the new and unique tune for the songs, Ha Tran expected to bring the audience new emotions and feelings.
“The Shadow of Jazz” was harmonized by artists Thanh Tam and Vu Quang Trung. Thanh Tam is a popular and high rating musician in Vietnam and Vu Quang Trung is a prestigious producer in the U.S. Made by the collaboration of 2 successful musicians, The Shadow of Jazz is expected to be a promising album.
Speaking at the show “Cultures, Events and People” (Văn hóa, Sự kiện & Nhân vật), Giang Son said:
“ My first album has multiple music styles including Contemporary Folk, R&B, Blue. However, in my second one, I just focus on Blue Jazz.” she added. “ I love Blue Jazz, I have listened to it for many years. And Norah Jones is my favorite artist, her songs make me feel unworried and relieved. I want to make that kind of music.”
Being asked about the collaborator in this album, the artist answered with high confidence:
“ I want to have this album released 3 years ago, but collaborators who I love to work with were all occupied at that time. Some accepted it, however, they got scheduling conflicts so I had to seek for others and everything got postponed till now.”
