On Monday, police in Thu Duc District found fake imported wine made at house number 114, Road 11 in Linh Xuan Ward. The fake liquor-making ring is led by Tran Van Loc, 26, of southern Soc Trang Province.

They seized tens bottles of liquor that were labelled ‘Chivas Regal', and equipment to make the wine.

Last Friday, police found Pham Thanh Phong, 36, of District 2 carrying five bottles of an imported brand labelled ‘Chivas 38', but the man failed to show any legal invoice proving the liquor's origin.

On raiding his place, police found tens of other liquor bottles, labels, fake stamps, and equipment to make liquor.

Phong admitted to police that he bought empty bottles and filled them with cheap wine, and labelled them before selling each for VND7 million (US$314).

According to the police, the suspects will be prosecuted soon.
