The main theme of the conference was to discuss factors preventing local enterprises from using trade remedies to protect themselves from foreign goods, along with subsequent measures (of action).
According to the VCCI, there are 94 cases investigating safeguards in Vietnamese exported goods, but only 4 for imported goods. Experts believe that Vietnamese firms should prepare to make full use of trade remedies at home, especially as unfair competition will likely increase with the rising number of imported goods. The report released by the VCCI at the event also revealed that Vietnamese enterprises are limited in using safeguards due to their personnel capacities and insufficient lawyering skills.
