Vietnam leaps 19 places in global innovation index

VTV.vn - Vietnam jumped 19 places to be ranked 52nd in the global innovation index, according to the latest report conducted by the World Intellectual Property Organization.

It also means Vietnam is ranked third in Southeast Asia, after Singapore and Malaysia. This achievement was attributed to the country’s efforts in applying high-technology in production.

This is one of the 4 vaccine factories in Vietnam. It produces enough vaccines for Japanese encephalitis to meet domestic demand every year. Recently, the company has decided to expand to other markets. According to its Director General, their production and research activities have received much support from the government.

Since the Law on Science and Technology 2013 took effect, it has provided a favourable environment for enterprises. Thus, it has led to the rapid outcome of scientific and technological products. In 2015, Vietnam posted over 2,200 articles in famous journals on science, and produced world-class products in vaccine production and manufacturing mechanics. However, experts have said to maintain a high grade, Vietnam needs to make more efforts in institutional improvement.

According to experts, enterprises are where innovative ideas turn into real products. Acknowledging this, the Vietnamese government is creating more opportunities for businesses to step up research activities and production, toward stronger development in the future.
