Speaking at the forum, President Truong Tan Sang said that with existing advantages and proper policies, the Cuban economy will recover and grow stronger in the coming years, becoming a potential market for Vietnamese and other foreign investors.
However, bilateral trade between the two sides remains modest. In 2014, this figure reached $200 million, with the majority of exports coming from Vietnamese enterprises.
The Vietnamese leader also asked to strengthen research and information exchange for promoting economic cooperation between the two countries in the future.
During the forum, Vietnamese and Cuban officials signed six economic and trade agreements, including a joint venture for the construction of a five-star hotel in Cuba.
