VTV.vn - The August consumer price index (CPI) in Ho Chi Minh City was down 0.12 per cent from the previous month, while Hanoi’s CPI rose 0.17 per cent, the latest reports have shown.

This is the first time in six months that Ho Chi Minh City’s CPI has declined. Six out of the 11 main goods categories dipped in price, with transport prices seeing the sharpest monthly decline at 2.4%, driven by two petrol price cuts in August.

Meanwhile in Hanoi, the CPI grew for the sixth consecutive month. Eight out of the eleven goods categories became more expensive, most notably, the education category.
