The conference was held on Jan 5th. Vietnam’s agricultural sector had to cope with a record strong El Nino and narrowing markets. But agricultural products remained Vietnam’s major exports with many kinds of fruits, including longans, lychees and mangos, successfully accessing high-end markets. This has reduced the sector’s dependence on traditional markets. Addressing the event, Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to promote the implementation of preferential policies to support farmers and encourage more investment in agriculture.
