The state president stressed the role the ADB had played in Vietnam’s socio economic development and poverty reduction.
He also mentioned that many areas in Vietnam still suffer from drought, salinization and pollution. Meanwhile, Vietnam is also trying to develop, with priority to economic restructuring and vocational training, making assistance from the ADB crucial.
ADB President Takehiko Nakao promised that the bank would actively assist Vietnam in the future. He also hoped for more opportunities to work with Vietnamese officials on the most efficient ways to co-operate on Vietnam’s development goals.
