Rainstorms wreak havoc, spreading in northern Vietnam

VTV.vn - Heavy rain and floods have caused serious damage in northern provinces and have been spreading into northern - central provinces.

Rainstorms in Cao Bang Province caused landslides in Can Nong Commune, leaving 3 dead and 5 injured. Roads were also damaged due to heavy rain. Cao Bang provincial authorities and the provincial Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Committee for Search and Rescue have mobilised forces to repair the damage.

Heavy rains have also caused landslides in Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province, causing 1 death and leaving 5 houses completely buried. The district has mobilised forces to help residents evacuate to safety.

Dien Bien Province also suffered from flash floods, floods and landslides in many areas. In Dien Bien Phu City, the floods have drained out, and its residents have cleaned up the residential areas. Measures to prevent diseases in flooded areas have also been carried out.

A delegation from the Water Resource Department visited Huu Cau dike, Hoa Long Commune, Bac Ninh City to view a 15-metre section which suffered from erosion on Monday to inspect and repair the damage. The province’s forces have reinforced the dike, ensuring the safety of surrounding areas.

In Thanh Hoa Province, heavy rain caused floods at the headwaters of the Ma River in Quan Haa. Hoi Xuân meteorological station measured 150 to 199 mm of rain. Many villages here have been completely isolated, and dozens of hectares of crops have been flooded. Evacuations are currently being carried out in areas at risks of flash floods and landslides. Search and rescue forces are on standby.
