VTV.vn - If the sea rises by just a metre, the Mekong Delta region will lose up to half of its area. The most severely affected provinces are Ca Mau, Hau Giang and Kien Giang.

Each year, erosion advances from 10 to hundreds of metres, destroying 1% of the mangrove forest in the process. In Bac Lieu Province, especially at Ganh Hao, the average erosion speed is 100m a year. It is estimated that by 2100, half of Ca Mau Province will be submerged, vastly changing the face of the country. Satellite imagery already shows most areas from HCM City to Ca Mau have eroded to varying degrees.
