The show opened with a chapter on Vietnam's origin, telling the story of the country's most difficult but heroic years, before shifting to a celebration of peace. Revolutionary and children's songs were given fresh arrangements. Audiences, including young people, were seen singing along with melodies taught to them since childhood.
Phan Yen Nhi, a student in Thai Nguyen Province, said: "We feel very proud and grateful to have such a major concert held here. We can come together and celebrate being Vietnamese."
Older audience members were particularly drawn to details of history. 84-year-old Nguyen Thi Nga saw this as a rare chance to listen to and see her favourite artists up close.
Nguyen Thi Nga, a resident of Phan Dinh Phung Ward in Thai Nguyen Province, said: "The concert is very exciting and gives a sense of national pride. I really like the young artists and their music."
On the side of artists, there were visible displays of passion and effort. Singer Hương Ly expressed the hope that her performance managed to capture the country's northern countryside, evoking images of ripe rice fields and a deep sense of home and heritage.
Huong Ly, a singer, said: "I hope to inspire young people to always be proud to be Vietnamese, wherever they go and whatever they do."
The song 'Echoes of Vietnam' marked the show's climax, aiming to inspire a shared sense of pride. That ambition will continue with a rock concert, Thai Nguyen Shines, to be held at the same venue on Monday.
