Visually-impaired student success in life
Nguyen Thi Yen Anh from Hue University of Sciences
VTV.vn - Nguyen Thi Yen Anh from Hue University of Sciences was the only prize winner among four Vietnamese visually-impaired students participating in the International Braille Contest.

Yen Anh's story underlines that people with visual impairments can still achieve success in life. "I’ve been visually-impaired since I was born. My parents took me to a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City when I was 3 or 4 years old. However, the treatment was unsuccessful", said Yen Anh.

In order to help her socialise with more children, Yen Anh’s parents sent her to the province’s Vocational Guidance for Blind Children when she was five. Due to her hard-work, Yen Anh passed the entrance exams at Hai Ba Trung High school, and then went to Hue University of Sciences.

With passion for English, at the beginning of 2015, Yen Anh joined 3 others Vietnamese students to take part in International Braille Contest. She won third prize at the competition. Besides English skills, Yen Anh also amazes people with her computer skills. The software to support the visually-impaired has helped her study. She can find studying materials as well as make friends and improve her knowledge.

Yen Anh is trying hard to improve her English skills so that she can get a scholarship to study abroad. She is one outstanding example of a hard-working student who has faced and overcome difficulties in her life.
