State President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and other leaders sent wreaths to show their respect for the deceased, and to offer their condolences for their families. The two Su-22 jets of Air Division 370 lost contact just a few hours after they took off from Thanh Son Military Airport in Binh Thuan during a training session on April 16. The body of Deputy Commander of Regiment 937 Le Van Nghia was recovered along with parts of the fallen Su-22 jet, number 5857, in the waters off Binh Thuan’s Phu Quy Island on April 28. On May 1, the search team recovered the body of pilot Nguyen Anh Tu and parts of the fuselage of his Su-22 jet number 5863.
