VTVGo, the national digital television platform of VTV Digital, a unit of Vietnam Television (VTV), outperformed other nominees to win the Gold Award in the category of Outstanding Digital Technology Products for the Digital Society. The award was presented at this year's award ceremony at the 5th National Forum on the Development of Digital Technology Enterprises in Vietnam on December 11 with the theme "Innovative Digital Applications for Digital Economic Development - Driving Economic Growth and Labor Productivity".
The event, hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communications, recognizes outstanding Vietnamese enterprises and organizations with digital products, solutions, and services that address challenges in Vietnam and the world.
Earlier this year, in June, VTVGo officially became the national digital television platform. VTVGo is the result of Vietnam Television's 10-year digital transformation efforts, which include investing in program production infrastructure using digital technology, digitizing content resources, and preparing for the audience shift from traditional TV to Internet platforms.
Currently, VTVGo has been installed on over 45 million devices, with more than 8 million regular users in Vietnam and over 200 countries and territories, serving millions of Vietnamese expatriates abroad.
With such a large user base, VTV is expanding the national digital platform VTVGo to smart TV interfaces, expecting to promote the national broadcaster's digital platform while preserving national sovereignty in the digital space and competing with cross-border platforms that are difficult to control in terms of content and revenue sources.
