VTV.vn - Vietnam have left the 2015 Southeast Asian Women’s Football Championship empty-handed despite winning all three games in the group stage, as they conceded two losses in the semifinals and the third-place game.

On Sunday, the Vietnamese women were beaten 3-4 by Australia in the bronze medal match of the tournament, held in Ho Chi Minh City from May 1 to 10.

Two days earlier, Vietnam were also defeated 1-2 by Thailand in the semis.

At Thong Nhat Stadium, Vietnam and Australia had equal attack chances.

Within the first ten minutes two goals were scored, one for each side, before Vietnamese striker Minh Nguyet lifted the scoring to 2-1 in the 31st minute.

In the second half, 15-year-old Ibini-Isei scored a brace and Kathleen Franco added another goal to fix the result at 4-3 after Tuyet Dung leveled 3-3 for Vietnam in the 85th minute.

Japanese coach Norimatsu Takashi of Vietnam said he did not feel comfortable with the fourth place finish, but admitted his players exerted great effort.

“We were unlucky and some of my players were inexperienced,” he said after the 3-4 loss to Australia.

In the final game yesterday, Thailand won the title after beating Myanmar 3-2.

Myanmar defeated Australia 1-0 in the semis on Friday.
