Vietnam’s population to reach 92 million

The birth rate reduced from 6.39% in 1960 to 2.05% in 2012. Yet, as of July 1, there were 91.7 million people in the country. Vietnam’s population density is 5.2 times higher than the world average, twice that of Asia and the Southeast Asian average.

A recent report of General Department of Population and Family Planning also showed that the sex ratio at birth in the country is imbalanced, with 112 males for every 100 females. Foetal sex selection was blamed for the gender imbalance.
