Hanoi (VNA) - Transport links at 45 locations nationwide where traffic was brought to a standstill by flooding triggered by Typhoon Matmo are expected to be restored by October 7 night.
Hanoi bore the brunt of the disruption with 19 flooded locations. Meanwhile, the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang reported 25 sites experiencing flooding and embankment collapses.
Lao Cai province recorded one blocked location, while Lang Son province reported a single traffic bottleneck.

At all affected sites, road management authorities and local Construction Departments have ordered contractors to make regular maintenance, install warning signs, and arrange personnel to regulate traffic around the clock.
Earlier, Typhoon Bualoi and its subsequent flooding caused severe damage to Vietnam’s transport infrastructure. Total losses were estimated at 982.83 billion VND (37.28 million USD).
Thanh Hoa province reported the most extensive damage, estimated at 600 billion VND./.
