Storm Hato to affect Vietnam

VTV.vn - A tropical storm named Hato made landfall in the south of Guangdong Province, China on Wednesday. It is affecting the northern region of Vietnam.

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control held an emergency meeting yesterday to discuss the response to the storm Hato. The storm is forecast to cause a rainfall of 100 to 200 milimeters between August 23rd and 25th in the northern region, and 250 to 300 millimeters in the midland and at sea. Level 7 to 9 wind speeds might occur in the Gulf of Tonkin on August 24th. The National Centre For Hydro - Meteorological Forecasting will announce updates of the storm. Quang Ninh Province, Hai Phong, and mountainous provinces from Lang Son, Quang Ninh to Dien Bien, Lai Chau are advised to take immediate preparations to ensure human and property safety.
