Nghe An (VNA) – Military forces in the central province of Nghe An have safely detonated a high-explosive bomb weighing about 250 kilogrammes, which still had its detonator intact and was left over from the war.

Earlier, on January 15, local residents discovered the bomb while fishing, around 20 metres from the bank of the Lam river in Nhan Thap hamlet, and reported the find to the authorities. Upon receiving the information, the Military Command of Kim Lien commune dispatched personnel to verify the report and cordon off the area to protect the site while awaiting specialist handling.

Initial checks identified the device as an MK-82 general-purpose bomb, measuring 30 centimetres in diameter, 140 centimetres in length and weighing approximately 250 kilogrammes.

Engineers from the provincial Military Command successfully neutralised the fuse and, in coordination with the Kim Lien Military Command, recovered and transported the bomb to a designated area, where it was destroyed in a controlled explosion, ensuring absolute safety for people and property./.
